The infrastructure is probably what makes this a world class resort - fast, modern lifts, long well-groomed pistes, helpful English speaking staff.
Grandma was happy skiing on the wide variety of easy slopes. Daredevil kids loved the ramps at the snowparks. Excellent intermediate, black and off-pistes for the rest of us - can go the entire day without skiing the same thing twice. The run #35 from Vorab to Lavadinas is indescribably beautiful. The place is enormous, so once you get away from the crowds at Crap (hahaha) Sogn Gion station, sometimes it seems like you share the pistes with only a handful of people.
The wasabi creme soup at Das Elefant on Crap Masegn is deeelicious.
The ski school is well organized, but unfortunately they don't have 1/2 day classes. So, our usual "ski classes in the morning and ski together as a family in the afternoon" plan does not work here. We prefer the Swiss Ski School system (http://www.schweizer-skischule.ch), but for some reason they offer classes at almost every ski resort in Switzerland except Laax.
On a poor visibility day, we went sledding from the Curnius station down to Falera - very fun.
We stayed at an apartment in the Peaks Place hotel (www.peaks-place.com) - super modern, friendly staff, convenient location (with a private shuttle to the lifts if feeling too lazy to walk the 500 meters), very nice spa facilities that are free for hotel guests, the coop pronto right next door bakes fresh bread on-site.
