Rosie

Arosa is a beautifully situated village, high, relatively snow-sure, and easy to fall in love with. Yet outside Switzerland, its name doesn't crop up often when Swiss ski resorts are discussed. Before it linked with Lenzerheide, it was more suited to beginners and intermediates, but now there is also more for experts. The train journey up is stunning, even by Swiss standards. Being quite low-key, it is perfect either as a romantic getaway or a family resort, excellent kids' ski school and facilities, and family friendly hotels and apartments. It is also perfect for a mixed or non-skiing group, with lots of winter walking and other activities. The skiing at least on the Arosa side is well-linked, and with some ski in/out accommodation. There are some really good restaurants, though not cheap. Not a good choice if you are after lots of lively après-ski. The cost of lift passes and restaurants is high, although there are some inexpensive self catering apartments and a good Coop to buy food.
