Finkenerg is located very near to Mayrhofen and therefore it is also connected to the same skiing area like Mayrhofen. This village is a good place to live to get away from the crowded Mayrhofen. It is pretty calm so I would recommend families to live there. The skiing area is very special. You have all kind of different levels for skiing. You even will find there the steepest prepared slope of Austria. The snowpark is very famous, good shaped and with many possibilities. For freeriding you will find a lot of space especially under the 150 Tux lift. Really very good steep runs and most of the time you have very good snow conditions. The slopes are well prepared only sometimes on the black slopes you will find some moguls. Also this skiing area was elected to one of the best of the world. Although there are many people they are well distributed over the whole area so you normally do not have to wait long for getting up with the lift. Only the Finkenberger night life is a little bit poor. There are some après ski bars but after 8 o clock those are normally empty but in a few minutes you are at Mayrhofen where you can party all night. So if you want to live calm but also to have the possibilities to make party Fikenberg is the perfect place.
great skiing area
main season crowded

Finkenbery is a lovely place to stay if you want to avoid the crowds at Mayerhofen. Once up on the lifts, you are on the same extensive Zillertal slopes. You can read all about Zillertal on Mayerhofen, and I'm no ski-ing expert, so i'll not bang on about snow conditions. However, I would recommend Finkenberg if you are looking for a quiet, few queues, no nightlife style break. It is a little village just up the road from Mayerhofen, and is populated mainly by homes and hotels. The biggest hotel, and nearest to the ski lift is the Sport Hotel. We've never stayed there but it looks very smart. We stayed at the Olympia Stock Hotel, further away from the lifts, but well served by frequent (free) buses. This is owned by Leonhard Stock, an Olympic Skier, who once a week arranges trips out with him. Herr Stock does speak English, but the trips and hotel is mainly geared for German speakers. Crystal Holidays uses the Eberl - a good, basic hotel, almost opposite the Olympia. Overall it's an excellent base that is much, much quieter than the Mayerhofen choice and with free buses and coaches travelling up and down the Zillertal valley, if the snow is a bit ropey, you can always take a trip to the Glacier.
Huge ski area included on ski pass
No alternatives to eating at hotels
finkenberg is great. But seriously after falling off the t-bar drag lift you find out that it is just safer to use the button lift. try austrias steepest slope if u dare. plus going on the 6 or 8 man chair lift is ace and also very relaxing. snoboarding park look good to. A nd by the way don@t drop your sun glasses off the chair lift.( you will never find them again. lol.
