On an altitude of 983 m, a densely wooded low mountain range can be found in Thuringia. Winter vacations in the Thuringian Forest are characterised by the snowy forests and beautiful winter nights as well as the spacious net of cross-country ski runs. Many demanding runs are available for the cross-country skiers but also unhurried runs to enjoy the view. And if you get bored by skiing you can try out other activities such as ice rafting or snow tubing in ski areas like Oberhof, Steinach or Brotterode.
