I skied pamps for the 1st time Jan 2018 with my family of 5. Skills range from careful intermediates who like blue runs to advanced 10 + years experienced all terrain skiers. I did not expert the terrain to be challenging for me or my sons who are more likely to hit red or black runs. We were all pleasantly surprised by the variety. Pamps markets itself as a begginers area with around 300m of vertical for the resort (from there own website). Whilst this is true for Studenets area, they dont mention that Malina has 500m vertical with most runs red or black and superb. Also similiar vertical is available on stoykite area with a number or runs >3kms. From 2017 the neighbor resort of Mechi Chal is available on your pamp ticket via free bus. This hill offers over 700m (2200ft) vertical and some really nice red/black terrain. Also a bonus is that around 80% of resort has snowmaking so good skiing is available even if natural snow is lacking. The resort is cheaper and less crowded than other bulgarian resorts and the whole family loved it.
Friendly, well organized resort, offers great choice for all levels of skiers, good mix of green, blue, red and black runs. Super value. Great food.
The newly merged resort of Mechi Chal is only accessible from pamporova with free bus shuttle (about 10mins drive). when new planned lift is installed between both resorts this will be the best resort in Bulgaria.

Incredible place to learn if you are a beginner all the instructors were very patient and kind and helpful. Ski depot was very efficient and organised! The ski lifts were great and we never had to queue and the slopes were amazing especially the black runs!
Incredible organised not busy all the ski instructors were wonderful! Really helped us to get the max out of our 6 days with you! Good filling food so we never went hungry.
Would have liked more snow but that's no ones fault!

Pamporova is not a huge resort, but if you are a new skier or a skier in your first few weeks, this resort is excellent Pretty mountain, not intimidating and a superb ski school. Enough good sking to keep all but advanced and experts busy for a week. I will be going back.
Excellent value for money, a great place for skiers in their first couple of weeks. Very pretty mountain.
Not a glamorous resort but I would definitely go back.

Just got back from visiting Pamporovo. This was our first ever skiing holiday so we didn't want any slopes that were too advanced for us. Pamporovo was just perfect for us. We booked into the ' Pamporovo ski skool ' and our insturctor Christo was excellent, he explained everything to us and if anyone in our group was having dificulty nothing was too much trouble to him. We also went with him on an evening out to the village where he was from and went to a local resturante where we were treated like kings. Hence to say the people were so friendly and welcoming. Pamporovo is definatley a perfect ski resort for both beginners and experienced skiers and we will certainly be going back next year and can highly recommend this resort. Roll on 2012 here we come ! !

Absolutely wonderful resort. The scenery is so very breath-taking. We were a mixture of beginners and intermediate skiiers and this resort suited everyones needs in this area. The locals were very friendly and helpful. The restaurants had a very varied and tasty selection of food. Some of our group hired skidoos and with a guide travelled to the Rhodopi Mountains. We are all looking forward to re-visiting Pamporovo for the next winter seaon.
brill for learners/ intermediate skiiers
not many advanced slopes
Pamps is a great resort in southern Bulgaria, surrounded by the Rudope mountains. Lovely pine forests surround the resort and give it a wonderful atmosphere. The resort itself is purpose built and so is not full of ald world charm, but has some good hotels - by Bulgarian standards that is. Accomadation is improving all the time with many new hotels being built alonngside the older Soviet-era ones so all the accomodation is modern. The food is wholesome and simple - it is perfectly edible but may be an acquired taste - I love it! Out on the mountains many 'mahernas' will serve you grilled food and pizza. Night life is well catered for with 'Daks', and 'BJs' being the big attractions in the main centre. A short walk out of town are some traditional Bulgarian restaruants which have a great atmosphere and are worth a visit. The ski-school is well organised, and large. English is spoken by all the instructors who take English groups - I have been to Pamps 3 times and my skiing has improved each time. If you visit Pamps, try and get a flight through to Plovdiv. This will give you a transfer time of less than 2 hours - not the 4 hours from Sofia. So - now the downside. In a word - SNOW!! Pamps claims to be the sunniest ski resort in Europe and as it so far south (only 30km from Greece!) its winters CAN be a bit mild. In 2005, we had 2m of snow, 2006 about 50cm and last year about 15cm! Now, if you are a beginner, this doesn't pose a problems as the resorts' green & blue runs are usually quite reliably covered. But it does limit the number of runs that skiers and snowboarders can use and so you end up with big bottle necks on the main runs. As an advanced intemediate I lost out in 2009 as we couldn't ski a full red run as they turned to grass and rock half way down! The snow does get better late Feb and early March, that really is the time to book Pamps. Otherwise, try Bansko - its main ski area is a full 2,000m higher up than Pamps!
Beautiful location, great ski-school, lively compact resort
Unreliable snow, bottle neck on slopes
I have been to a few resorts in europe before, first time to pamporovo with my familiy as they are learners. I have to say that this resort is beauiful!. Even i was challenged on a couple of runs It's a great atmosphere when skiing through forestry with trees laced with powder snow. Conditions were spot on, its snowed four out of the seven days we were there, so lots of powder, ski tuition was second to none. There were three of us to one instructor! my son was carving by the third day! excellent. Food is pretty good and alcohol is cheap. Hotels are good, but what you will remember most of all, are the people. They are great. If you want a very good value ski holiday this has to be the one. we will be back. Hit this place between mid Feb-mid march for best snow.
Not a crowded resort so you get plenty of space to yourself especialy when learning.
some roads are'nt too pleasant.
I have just returned from my first skiing holiday in Pamporovo and I absolutely loved it. Just the most spectaclar scenary (better than the Alps in my opinion) - I just wanted to stop and take pictures most of the time! All the runs run throught the trees. If you pick the right tiem for the snow I dont think you will find a better place for a beginner. For the better skiers it may not be enough for you, but with good snow you will still be fairly happy here. I wouldnt hesitate to recommend this resort to anyone.
Beautiful Scenery, Perfect for Beginners, friendly feel
Snow not always great, food (but that is Bulgaria), Expensive taxis
