When we arrived there was a great deal of snowfall (around 60/70cm) overnight, the slopes were left untouched in the morning leading to the pistes to feel like they weren’t official routes, whilst this was annoying we thought that due to this snowfall more of the routes would be opened across the Mondolè park (On the snow shows 13/15 routes open but this was not the case) The only time we seen maintenance of the pistes was for the very small section of the board park where they started making some kickers for the ramps but then left half finished. In the 7 nights we have been here we have seen no ploughing of the pistes, no attempt to open the rest of the park. As it stands we have travelled to Italy to Board two small runs, I could have had more action on the dry skin slopes in pontypool (south wales)!
Avoid this place.

This is a great beginner and intermediate ski resort.

We have stayed many times at The Hotel Mondole,Great resort full of charm, fantastic ski school and ski hire facilities ( and Europes largest collection of snowboards) stunning mountain side restaurants/grills/bars - would not hesitate to return!

Main problem with the resort is an unreliable snow record and thankfully we had a big dump on our second day which meant a lot of the pistes opening through out the week, but the links to Artisina and Frabosa remain closed!

This place has a ton of potential, unfortunately there are a couple important pieces missing.
1. Mountain closures: Too few employees ( I assume) means it takes goddamn forever to open the mountain after a snowfall, which are typically large quantities here (often snows between 1-5 feet at a time).
2. Transportation: The roads are poorly kept, the buses are infrequent and only go to a part of the domain that isn't always open due to low altitude. A 20 minute taxi ride to the slopes from the nearest "real" (non-ski resort) town (Villanova Mondovi) costs as much as a 1-day car rental.
3. Hotels: Availability is very low since most of the structures at the mountain are family vacation apartments (that are apparently not rented out to visitors, if one searches airbnb or homeaway)
It truly pains me to see such an awesome mountain that get so much snow so poorly managed. Its actually sad for the locals, who could have so much more cool terrain available to them.

I found Prato Nevoso to be a great laid back resort off the beaten track for the main names in the Alps, and more relaxed for it.
The pistes are wide, fast, easy and sunny and there seem to be a lot of fast new lifts to get up the slopes.
we had a nice sopacious hotel (Galassia) which had great facilities (swimming pool) and was well positioned next to the slopes so pretty well doorstep skiing. There wasn't a huge amount to go out for in the evening but we were happy to stay in the hotel bar.
So in summary - great for a relaxed and relaxing holiday, less good for extreme skiers and apres ski hedonists.
The rooms in which we stayed were close to the slopes but a little way from main reception however that was only a problem to me as I got injured half way through my stay.
The staff were very friendly (one even piggy backed me up stairs to my room after I got injured, and that's no mean feat!) The instructors were great, I was in a beginners group and then in a intermediates group and both were great but I did notice that they were maybe a bit fast moving on for some of the group, didn't really xplain what we were going to do.
The nightlife was minimal and we had to travel quite far down the mountain to get to a little nightclub (kind of) which was pretty empty but still there was a big group of us so still a laugh.
Other than that the whole experience was really nice and would go back again.
We stayed at the Hotel Galassia which is almost on the slopes, just a short walk accross the Car Park and you can ski a blue down to the 4 man lift. The pistes are almost all wide, even the steep reds and the views are to die for. The drag lifts have been replaced by chairs, the fast 6 man chair is great even when there are Q's. It's easy to ski over to the neighbouring resrt of Artesina, which has some challenging pistes, also a few drag lifts, especially the long one back. Well worth a visit though. Prato Nevoso is a great resort for intermediates and beginners with lots of ski schools to choose from. The snowboard park is a great idea, making it much safer for everyone. We liked the Hotel Galassia it has a swimming pool, jacuzzi and steam room, just what you need after a hard day on the slopes. Paul the Manager was very friendly and helpful. The food was good & plentiful, the rooms were warm and large with big comfortable beds, the bathrooms have shower or bath & lots of hot water. We will definitely be making a return visit!
