Vialattea, home to the XX Winter Olympic Games of Turin 2006, means skiing on the slopes of champions: cutting-edge ski lifts, spectacular competitive slopes, and an extensive high tech snow making infrastructure. Vialattea has a lot to offer. It's the largest international ski area in Europe, connecting Sestrieres, Sauze d'Oulx, San Sicario, Cesana, Oulx, Claviere, and Pragelato in Italy to Montgenèvre in France. About 400 km of trails and over 200 interconnected slopes link Cesana (1350 m) to Motta (2800 m). Vialattea is synonymous with wide open spaces, snowy expanses, and sunny, panoramic runs that connect traditional villages with modern towns that offer visitors modern comforts and entertainment. The vastness and variety of the ski area will satisfy both expert skiers and people who are skiing for the first time. Specially equipped parks with jumps cater to snowboarders and ski crossers. Expert skiers can also have fun on the mogul runs and freeride itineraries. A lot of attention is given to the smallest skiers, with a number of baby parks that allow children to ski safely. And for food lovers there are over 30 high altitude refuges with traditional, hearty fare. The Vialattea ski area is easy to reach. It's a one hour drive from "S.Pertini" airport in Torino-Caselle and a little more than two hours from the Milan, Genoa, Geneva and Nice airports. The closest railway station is at Oulx where numerous high speed trains stop daily from Rome, Turin, Lyon and Paris. There is also a frequent bus service which connects the different resorts of the ski area. When driving to the area from Turin, the first lifts (those of Jouvenceaux- Sauze d'Oulx) are only 3 km from the "Sauze d'Oulx – Cesana – Claviere – Sestriere" exit of the Frejus A32 motorway. In the summer Vialattea is synonymous with sports and open air fun: nature walks and excursions to the numerous lakes on foot, horseback or bike, rock climbing or golf on Sestriere's famous 18 hole course or Claviere's 9 hole course. It's a true mountain vacation.
