<p>Zermatt is a car-free ski resort at the foot of Switzerland's most famous mountain, the Matterhorn. This attractive blend of Alpine village and sophisticated holiday destination boasts a varied offering, including a modern lift system, comfortable hotels, practical holiday apartments and friendly hosts.</p>
<p>The many mountain trains based here provide access to hundreds of kilometers of runs for skiing in Zermatt and the nearby Cervinia in Italy. During a ski holiday in Zermatt&rsquo;s interesting freeride slopes, heli-skiing and the Gravity Park ensure the "cracks" amongst us have a fun winter. Ski clubs introduce children and beginners to the world of skiing.</p>
<h2>Where Is Zermatt Ski Resort Located?</h2>
<p>The airports closet to the ski resort are in Geneva, Sion, Milan and Zurich. From these airports, you can rent a car and drive to Tasch, but you can also take the train to Tasch. From there, take the ski resort transfer service to the resort. There is a terrain park. Snowfall is bolstered by 1,060 snow cannons.</p>

Slopeside lodging of 13,000 beds is available; additional lodging facilities available nearby.
If you fancy a night in the snow on the Gornergrat, there is actually an igloo village in this snowy white world! The igloos, artistically enhanced by sculptures carved by Inuit Bill Nasogaluak provide the backdrop for an unforgettable night high in the mountains. At 2727 metres above seal-level, below the Gornergrat, the Igloo Village offers romantic suites for two and igloos for groups of 6. It’s certainly one of the most specialised hotels in the world. To get them in the mood, guests are presented with a cool glass of champagne in the heated whirlpool as the magnificent panorama high above Zermatt spreads out before them. Sheer luxury in an unspoilt natural setting!

<h3>Terrain</h3>
<p>The summit of the mountain is 3,899 meters, and the base is 1,562 meters. Vertical drop is 2,337 meters. There are 53 lifts that service the 322 kilometers of runs and 38 kilometers of ski routes. The terrain breakout is 75 kilometers of beginner slopes, 220 kilometers of intermediate and 27 kilometers of advanced.</p>

<p>winter sports, there is the Peak Pass. Winter hikers and mountain lovers can purchase this pass cheaply and travel aboard all mountain cableways to the peaks. It also includes travel on the Matterhorn Gotthard Railway between Randa, T&auml;sch and Zermatt.</p>
