Saas-Fee is one of the first European ski resorts to open each year, usually in July, offering skiing up on its Allalin glacier which is set among some of the higehst peaks in Europe. Most of the resort's skiing is between 2500-3500m and the largely northfacing slopes help maintain reliable snowcover. Fast, modern lifts serve the ski area and there is very rarely any queuing.&nbsp;
Beginners and intermediates have miles of long, quiet runs on which which to practise turns. Snowbaorders flock to the high-altitude terrain parks. Unfortunately there isn't much scope for off-piste skiing.
Saas-Fee village, often compared to Zermatt, has a slower, quieter feel and is favoured by families. This car-free centre has pretty, narrow streets lined with traditional chalets, apres-ski bars and family-friendly restaurants. Electric buses and taxis can take you around.
Non-skiing activities: Outdoor ice skating, sledging, a revolving restaurant on the glacier (3500m) and an indoor leisure centre with a wealth of activities including a swimming pool.
Downside?&nbsp;While its northfacing runs make for some great snowcover, Saas-Fee isn't the place to go for sunny lunches on the mountain, it's largely shady ski area can be cold unless you're on the move.

Lodging is available within the ski area, with over 7,000 beds.

Covering more than 1,000 meters2 of wellness oases, nine additional suites, conference room and organised children’s entertainment, the Wellness & Vitalhotel Pirmin Zurbriggen**** in Saas-Almagell will open in new splendour on 27th June with an extended offer. Besides a Kneipp cure, massage parlour and fitness tower, to name just a few, hotel guests and outside visitors will also be presented with a medical wellness offer. Pool users will soon be able to enjoy films as they swim too. If smaller guests are not interested in hairstyling and the beauty salon, they can romp about under organised supervision. The state-of-the-art conference room now offers not only fresh alpine air but also a perfect setting for successful seminars.

Hotel Marmotte has been renovated and now has a new restaurant in Valaisian style with a bar and fireplace lounge in addition to a new wellness area with a sauna, whirlpool, steambath and relaxation area. Furthermore, the hotel has been expanded to include several new family rooms. 

Guests can enjoy free use of the village bus in Saas-Fee starting winter 2008-2009. This applies to all village bus routes including the small electric train known as "Allalino". All aboard!

Started in the winter season 2007-08, Saas-Fee provides guests and residents with a comfortable new means of transportation: the electric "Allalino". It consists of an engine with two carriages and has space for a total of 56 adults. The small train also blends extremely well visually with the village. The "Allalino" is decorated nostalgically in the colours of the destination Saas-Fee/Saas Valley.
