A ski resort's overall star rating displayed here is not calculated based on a simple average but takes several factors, including the age of a review, into account.
Beautiful country and a fantastic resort. Westendorf makes a refreshing change to the packed French resorts. Even on a busy weekend there was no queuing for lifts and runs where wide open and clutter free allowing for flat out descents :-) Lift passes are also some of the cheapest I have used and the quality and price of food on and of the mountain will leave you gob-smacked! I highly recommend the SkiWelt area, I will be returning :-)

Our fifth return to the lovely village of Westendorf, did not have the best snow this time but a short bus trip over to the main skiwelt range enabled to have six days of enjoyable ski-ing and find some new runs that we had not been on. We stayed at the the well run Hotel Post in the centre of the village, which is a great location for everything you need, bus stop right behind the hotel so a shorter walk than to the nursery slopes. Sad to hear that the old bowling alley in the village is in its last year so if your there this year go along for some bowling apri ski. Westendorf will have you coming back time again. Magical
The description for the resort of Westendorf must be at least seven years out of date so is worthless.
If you are going to describe a resort it must be up to date to be relevant.
It is linked to the Ski Welt circuit and now has FOUR gondolas to get skiers around the mountain.

Our fourth time in Westendorf, new lifts and link up with the main ski-welt range has made Westendorf more accessable, although the town has retained it's unique charm. Lots of snow last week which did limit ski-ing at the top of the mountain, but never spoilt our enjoyment. Stayed in the hotel Austria which was ideal, central postion in the town made it perfect for all facilities. Westendorf as a town is growing but still holds its attraction. Will most certainly keep going back, great week.
Stayed at the Post Hotel & George was very helpful, from 17-24 Feb and had a superb time. This was our first time with the kids to go skiing and it was a great holiday. The ski school was well run and helped the kids, while the adult instructors were excellent. Tony Zass, my instructor really made the holiday for me with his fun approach to instruction and really pushing the class along to make the most of the runs open. He was willing to let people try out things that I have seen other instructors shy away from. The week we were there lacked snow throughout the resort but still there was enough to make the holiday enjoyable. Looking forward to going back next year.
We stayed at the Hotel Post January 6-13th 2007. It was comfortable, very convenient and extremely friendly. Snow was poor but the slopes were skiing fairly well in the main beginner area. The Reds ski school was first class. The mountain restaurants were all very good, and prices generally were reasonable.
The bars and pubs etc were fantastic! The friendliest and best we have ever enjoyed, and all so close at hand. Getting to other ski areas was easy and we were able to find plenty of good runs despite the poor snow.
We are returning next year!
Being part of the larger skiwelt region this reort offers a great variety of skiing for all levels.
The village of Westendorf is outstanding.
We visited Westendorf in January of this year.
It was reported to have the least amount of snow for 50 years !
Even with the above said they maintained and excellent nursery slop for the children and higher runs were well maintained which still gave us more that enough skiing.
The accomodation ( Hotel Schermer ) that we sayed in was first class. Food was outstanding and the prices were much lower than expected.
All the lifts etc are within easy reach via foot and the run and effective and freindly bus service to the other areas of the ski welt.
We are already looking to book next year.
There is much to see and do at this very pretty resort.
Well worth a visit.

Westendorf is magical. Our first ski trip so everything was new and we have adopted an uncritical conclusion.Ski facilities are excellent - known for its facilitation of beginners as well as experienced skiers. Reds skischoll was first class , great instructor called Hans Peter (a local guy) for 4 days - adults and teenagers. Very good blue, red and black slopes. Superb lift facilities and options. And this year (Jan 2006) broght the best snows on record. Just our luck for a first time out.We will definitley be going back for more and more. Also stayed in Mesnerwirt hotel right in centre of village with ski facilities within 100 metres - yes 100m. Nice friendly, traditional Tirolean family run hotel. No pretentious nonsense, just nice friendly hospitality.
