In three weeks time we go back to Waidring for our 6th visit. I fell in love with the place the first time I visited back in 1997, I've yet to go to a better resort. Pistes are kept in excellent condition. It's a real family friendly resort, our daughter (11) loves it. Advanced skiers/boarders and party animals may quickly get bored. We've always stayed in the Waidringerhof Hotel which is top notch and you get discount on your lift pass & ski school. Lift pass covers 6 resorts so there's alway a choice. I would recommend Zardini's for apre ski.
Excellent pistes, friendly, v.good ski school, no pretence.
Limited for advanced skiers/boarders and party animals
I have skied Steinplatte for 6 years, and have brought the family for the last 4 years. We have always had a great time here, and never had an issue with the snow cover. It's a wide open snow bowl, with well maintained tracks that suit beginners and intermediates alike. Advanced will be bored here after a few hours. The main blue run is very wide and gentle and is a favourite with ski schools and beginners. This means that groups of mixed ability skiers will like this resort as there is something for most sliers here. The lift system is excellent with virtually no queueing. There is also the novelty of skiiing across border into Germany. My one word of warning is that because of the number of inexperienced skiers here, I have seen more collision accidents here than any other resort I've skied, especially aroound the half pipe in the middle of the easy blue. Overall a very good family resort that is virtually snow sure and queue free
Easy, wide slopes, cruising, Family friendly, Close to Salzburg airport
Fairly small, too easy for advanced skiers
We have just spent yet another family skiing holiday in Waidring, and as always, we enjoyed it very much. The snow on the Steinplatte was excellent, (apart from one day when a weather system came in), the hotel we always stay at is near to the gondola for an easy life, and this time we used our ski passes to travel to Fieberbrun and to other ski runs. Our party consisted of 2 intermediate skiers and 1 intermediate snowboarder. This is now our 5th visit and we always meet families we have met there before.
Wide runs, good snow, excellent ski school, good hotels, short transfer from airport.
Quiet night life.
Our family enjoyed a great week of skiing in the Kirchdorf area. The ski school at Kirchdorf is friendly and very professional. All of us took 3 days of lessons to continue from last year and had an awesome experience. Our best skiing was at Waidring by far. It is beginner friendly but offers wonderful red and black slopes for those more adventuresome. A truly great family place to ski.
Visited Waidring for half term holiday February '06 - had a terrific time. As beginners, we found the resort friendly, helpful and the ski-ing was terrific. Hotel Waidringerhof was very friendly and the food was excellent. We are going back on February 9th '07. We hope the snow falls soon!
