A ski resort's overall star rating displayed here is not calculated based on a simple average but takes several factors, including the age of a review, into account.
Small, modern and family friendly, great for beginners and for still a ok value for intermediates. Also great for a day run from Innsbruck. Very limited to experts.

What stands for this area is that you are immediately in the big city Innsbruck. There are buses (for free) which bring you from the town in about 15 minutes to the skiing area. You can buy a ski pass with about 9 areas surrounded by Innsbruck and the Patscherkofel is one of them.
The slopes are always in a perfect condition. The most slopes are red and blue and only one is a little bit difficult, it runs down from the top of the mountain. But the slopes are very long and bride and it makes a lot of fun to carve and also if you like to race this is a very good area. There were also some world cup skiraces on this mountain.
I would recommend this area to families and people who like to go fast. This area is a must see if you stay in Innsbruck. The view up on the mountain is also very special. You can see nearly the whole Inntal and also the Stubaital. So the area is also interesting for people who just want to take a walk are for taking some panorama photos.
There are very good restaurants up on the mountain and also in the village Igls and in the city Innsbruck you can party every day and all night long.
This village does a nice job to cater to non-German speakers, without getting to touristy or too expensive.
Though, if you speak German, and have children, you might seek better - yet lesser-known - resorts for family skiing and ski school where only the German-speakers go...
Stayed at Gruberhof Hotel, ski-in and more-or-less a ski-out, too. Good fun and good food. Lot's of Brits, a few Germans. They are very laid-back but efficient there. The Astoria down the road is more formal but too quiet.
The Olymipc Express (OLEX) facility is newly renovated and is thoroughly enjoyable and sports a fabulous kitchen. Drank lots of Goesser, the local beer, which is increbibly fit for skiiing.
Ski-schools for kids is a little confusing. The ones down in the village of Igls are well organized but start too early - at 9:15 am. We ended up with directly at Patscherkofel (OLEX) and our middle daughter ended up in a good group.
The gondola is fun, and the Panorama Restaurant near the peak is worth to visit and dine at even for non-skiers.
We skied six days in a row, that was kids, parents and grand parents, and we had the time of our lives.
Also have local Tyrolean dance group that was superbly entertaining, and the Olympic Bob Sled run is worth one try.
PS - the slopes are groomed every night, like most runs in Austria. Lift tickets are free for kids under 10.
