A ski resort's overall star rating displayed here is not calculated based on a simple average but takes several factors, including the age of a review, into account.
Galtür ist the neighbor village of the very famous ski destination Ischgl in the Paznaunvalley. You can´t compare Ischgl with Galtür because those two are really very different. There is more soft tourism, less party and much more concentrated on recovery. The village is quiet beautiful it lies direct in a rough landscape with very steep mountains.
The slopes are very wide and you will find them in all different difficulties. Most of the slopes are red. There is also a very interesting backcountry for freeriding. In the evenings you also have the possibility for night skiing. What I also liked about the area is that you have beside skiing also some good opportunities to spend your time and won´t get bored. I prefer this ski area to Ischgl because in Ischgl were too many people and also the slopes were not as interesting like in Galtür but if you prefer to party all the night you have to go to Ischgl because Galtür is a little bit more quiet in the evenings.

I went up to Galtur for the day when I was staying in Ischgl further down the valley, the two of them and a few other mid-sized ski areas down the valley are part of the Silvretta Pass. I quite liked it, the resort was quite small and low-key which was more my kind of thing than big-brash Ischgl.
The ski area itself wasn't as big either but still had a heralthy vertical and this must be one of Auistria's highest villages so the snow was great. The ski area has been divided in to 'zones' for different types/abilities of skiing and boarding, we had some great long runs down below the gondola.
There was a bad avalanche here some years ago and they'd built a new avalanche defence barrier which had a combined exhibition and memorial to the victims in it, which was quite a beautiful place.
