Alto Adige-Sudtirol, located on the sunny side of the Alps, is a winter paradise for skiers and snowboards alike, with over 1200km of slopes covering 12 ski areas. The Dolomites were declared a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site in 2009 and form a wonderful backdrop.The Alto Adige ski areas are very well equipped. The largest are Dolomiti Superski and Ortler Skiarena. Also noteworthy is Sellaronda, a circular itinerary which connects 4 ski areas with 500km of slopes.Snowboarders have a wide range of choices as well: Alta Badia, Racines, Obereggen,Plan de Corones, Alta Pusteria, Val Gardena, Alpe di Siusi as well as Val Senales, Solda, and Val d'Ultimo.
