If the snow conditions were right this place would be off the scale for on and off piste . Sadly when I was there the temperatures were very high so the conditions were frozen corduroy and scraped ice first thing followed by granulated sugar in the afternoons. Some of our group loved it but I like proper snow so it wasn’t for me. Huge area with lots of variety but check out the snow before you go.

Brutal 1960s architecture, not a pleasant resort. If you like your ski trip to combine both great skiing and an aesthetically pleasing resort, this is not the place to go.

Certainly the best skiing resort in Spain. It has 3 different areas where you can find a suitable place whether you are a beginner, an intermediate or an expert skier. It has lots of apresski activities: wine tasting, delicious food, dog sledding, children´s park, ice skating...
3 different areas to ski
better to have a car

Went there in Ferbuary 2016, and it was one of the best experiences i've had skiing. Definitely the best ski resort in Spain and the Pyrenees.
I have gone skiing twice at Baqueira Beret (in 1999 and 2000 so my experience is a bit dated), and I had good conditions and great skiing both times. Like most European resorts, the snow is not as deep and powder conditions are not as frequent as in the West of North America. However, there is pretty reliable cover from mid-station upwards from late December through the end of March. It is well worth the five plus hour drive from Madrid to get your occasional skiing-fix. It is even better from San Sebastian or the like. If you are considering traveling to Spain to ski, the real draw is probably the culture etc. There are a lot of top quality restaurants and bars in the Val d' Aran so you won't be disappointed.
Founded in 1964, Baqueira has grown year on year to become Spain's largest single resort. If you're thinking about Europe consider its latitude gives an hour more daylight for skiing than in the Alps, and it's warmer too. There's well laid out, modern lift infrastructure and a lively and varied après ski scene. The resort has expanded rapidly since 2000 with numerous new high speed, high capacity lifts, dozens of new runs and new mountain faces added. Famous fans of the resort include Luis Arias (Spanish National Ski Champion), King Juan Carlos and other members of the Spanish Royal family
