I know Berchtesgaden once bigd to host a Winter olympics about 20 years ago but I don't think iot could think of that now. It is a well established resort, a proper year round tiowmn, wioth loads to do besides skiing, but the skiing itself is pretty limited with four or five mostly small to very small ski areas and most of them wirth old lifts and a bit low to be very snowsure. The best and biggest area we found was Jenner which was good for a day or two, but you need to get a bus or have your own car to reach most odf the places. There are many good hotels and restaurants so if skiing isn't the be all and end all of youir stay this is a good place. There's Hitler's Eagles Nesxt mountain base to visit which is like a James Bond evil villain's lair and it's also easy to get to Salzburg for a day trip. We did both and both werll worth it, though Hitler's place a bit scary when you think about it.
