A ski resort's overall star rating displayed here is not calculated based on a simple average but takes several factors, including the age of a review, into account.
Levi positions itself as Finland's premier ski resort. In terms of lift infrastructure it probably is although Ruka and Pyha beat it on terrain. The quality of snow is off the chart and if you are there in the early season before the Finns come out en masse from down south, pretty much every day is a powder day. You can ski here when other European resorts are flowery meadows. Make sure to mix up the alpine with some cross country and add in some snowmobiling, husky safaris etc and you will more than make up for the difference in vertical and resort size compared to the Alps or Rockies.

Was in Levi for a week with the in-laws and stayed in there condo, GREAT location on Kivirakka. This was my first trip skiing in Lapland but will not be the last. I really enjoyed skiing in the trees on the north pistes by hissi 7 and to the east of hissi 8, reminded me of Colorado or Montana. The town is so modern that I could not tell the difference from any western North American resort. Looking for something else to do? XC trail coverage is huge, and Snowmobile rentals are many.
