A ski resort's overall star rating displayed here is not calculated based on a simple average but takes several factors, including the age of a review, into account.
Winter 2016: 30 to 50 cm of snow and only third of tracks were working. No go!

I forgot to add in my review that this resort has proper black runs for advanced skiers. They are steep, narrow and can get very bumpy.
The chutes off the top of the mountain are a test for any advanced skier. The good news is not many people take these routes so the snow holds well in them.
Most of the off piste routes have tracks back to a lift, very little hiking out required.

A relatively unknown ski resort by the Brit pack. Not a massive ski area, but the slopes are quiet and uncrowded. Very few out of control pilots and no lift queues. As a result the snow conditions remain good and you can still be sliding through uncut powder, days after a fall.
Easy access by car, plane or train. Cheap accomodation all within a short, flat, walk to the lifts.
The slopes are mainly north facing and high, above 1550m, so pretty much snow sure all season.
What it lacks in pisted runs it makes up for in easy and accessible off piste, most of which is within the ski area boundary.
Lift and lesson prices are cheap in comparison to the larger better known resorts, on mountain prices are good as well, although it's taken a bashing with the weak pound against the euro. On mountain beer / coffee 3 euro's. Plat du jour about 11 euro's.
The locals are friendly, well they don't bite!
With another 20 ski resorts all within an hours drive of Valfrejus including direct access into the 3 valleys, this is a great location to base yourself and ski the area.
Enjoy your sliding!
