Pralognan is a gem. It is not very well known as it does to connect directly to the 3 valleys. However, it offers fantastic value for money, especially for families. The runs are much better than what the average small resort offers, the lift queues are very modest and the mountain offers both easy and harder skiing options at all levels (great for groups of skiers with different abilities). It is very popular with French families, and the children's ski school is excellent. Just don't go for the nightlife.
