Best of the resorts off the autoroute blanche. 1400 metre drop. Very good for intermediate and below. Seriously good off piste or side piste, but limited black piste. Pretty snow sure at least in la Balme area. Small quiet French village. Minimal queues. If you want to chill and ski, this is the place. If you want to party, probably not.
Great off piste and for intermediates and below.
Quiet village. Limited black piste

This resort is NOT on the Autoroute Blanche, as the main topic for driving to resorts review seems to think and is almost certainly NOT an alternate for the Chamonix skier who will not be challenged. It's really Annecy's ski resort with the road to Megeve closed in winter. It's pretty small with a link by bus to Le Grand Bornand every twenty minutes or so. There are some linked smaller areas but high winds can be problematic and the return runs soft in early March. In the town there are plenty of restaurants and a new 5 star hotel near the main bubble start. Decent intermediates will cover the area in a week.
Small and friendly
Any link closures are painful

Bad snow conditions. Hard-packed and with ice crust at some places. Is the snow there ratracked at all? Not sure.

We've skied La Clusaz for the last 7 Years, a great resort for the family. Traditionally built with locals friendly and helpful, a good mix of runs over varying terrain. Not amongst the highest but it does face the right way to keep the snow all season long. Can be buy in high season as favoured by the French in general as well as by many from the surrounding towns at weekends. We also visit in the summer which is good for walking, summer luge and mountain biking
wn, Well maintained, friendly traditional town with good snow making facilities
Low resort so lower runs sometimes icy early in the day or heavy in the afternoon if warm.
Have skiied and stayed in La Clusaz on numerous occasions. It is a traditional and pretty small french Village. Frequented mainly by the French, English isnt widely spoken (which all adds to the experience). There are a selection of nice restaurants and small bars. More of a relaxed atmosphere than a full on apres-ski experience! The skiing is linked over a serious of varying mountains. Being a mainly red-runner there is lots to choose from. The views of MtBlanc from the top of the Balme area is a great photo opportunity. The runs down from L'Etale are also enjoyable. There is a nice green/blue domain on the Beauregard ideal for beginners. Being a low area snow can sometimes be thin on the lower runs but every year the snow making gets better and better. The area is v close and linked by bus to Grand Bornand which opens up another varied ski area if you fancy a change. Being approx one hour from Geneva it is easily accessable. As an option it is also an easy 8hr drive from Calais if coming from the UK. Overall its a great destination, ideal for varied groups and families (ESF ski schools recommended). Give it a try....you will enjoy!
