A ski resort's overall star rating displayed here is not calculated based on a simple average but takes several factors, including the age of a review, into account.
We visited during the New Year's Eve week, skiing 6 days. The place was totally overcrowded. This might not surprise considering the dates, but the problem is that 30-40% of the resort was closed without any apparent reason (both lifts and slopes). This lead to massive queues in several key lifts, very few red slopes available and not a single black one. Considering the forfait costs nearly the same as in the 3 valleys, it clearly isn't good value for money. Perhaps families or beginners might find something to like, but it's not obvious to me.

Have skied at Flaine a couple of times - both times the holiday has been great. The resort itself is small but that makes everything very close. But the skiing is extensive.
Après ski is limited - some good eating options but few bars/clubs. But Flaine is set up as a family resort and it does that really well

Our family had a great time in Flaine, good snow whilst we were there. Slopes are well maintained and good ski school group; we used esf and the children had a great time. It was there first time on snow but they progressed really well. Red slopes by end of the week. Great skiing for adults with lots of places to rest both at base level and on some slopes. Mountain top splendid.

Skied at Flaine for 4 years with my family. Our kids learned to ski at Flaine. We took in so much powder it spoiled us. We lived in the valley near Geneva taking a 45 minutes drive to Flaine every Friday night for weekend skiing plus holidays and school vacations. There are some great restaurants. The place architecture may not be for everyone but it does have a 1970’s James Bond feel to it. But we rented a chalet in the Norwegian Village just above the base. From here you can ski down to the base and take a bus back to the village. The lift crews are awesome and friendly. You can get thru the lift lines quickly and back on the slopes very quickly. Fond memories of Flaine. Highly recommended. Not for the Megeve/Chamonix Snobs...

My teenage daughters and I just had a fantastic short break at Flaine. Stayed at CGH Centaure which has pool and spa and newly refurbished self catering rooms, and had great transit to and from with snow-vans.com who also sorted delivery skis, so we sorted out our ski hire at 11pm in the hotel as we arrived and could go straight to ski next morning. Just perfect snow up high in Flaine at the moment

I like this resort.

One of my favourite resorts in the alps. Nice wide slopes, great view of mont blanc, and a good lift infrastructure.

I have had property in Flaine and skied the Grand Massif for over 30 years.Flaine and the Grand Massif has been over developed and has tripled in size .As a result slopes are over crowded and dangerous Massive lift queues not just at weekends. Whilst lift capacity has been increased it is insufficient to cope with demand. Compared to nearby resorts lift opening times are shorter and lift passes more expensive .Furthermore links connecting the resorts in the Grand Massif are often closed to save money under the excuse of high winds .Flaine and the Grand Massif is not an area to visit in school holidays and would recommend avoidance

We stayed at Flaine Montsoleil resort which is now run by the Pierre Et Vacances . One of the best , cleanest and spacious accomodations I have stayed for Skiing. Totally Ski in and out resort . There are enough runs for all . I have been going there now since 2009 and really never get bored of the place. The safest off piste skiing I have known .
The weather has been consistant over the past 3/4 years and there is always guaranteed snow in Feb, March and April-- And pleanty of it ! This time , we really had some fantastic sunshine . Only there is not enough apres ski or a huge selection of restaurants which you would find in larger ski resorts. The supermarkets are very accomodating as they can deliver your shopping to your accomodation .
I am going to Flaine again in 2nd week of April with my kids and also other families.
