A ski resort's overall star rating displayed here is not calculated based on a simple average but takes several factors, including the age of a review, into account.
Good for a family when a huge resort, facilities etc are not needed. We stayed in an Airbnb near the slopes. It was totally gorgeous, i mean breathakingly gorgeous. Mountain view from every room. Took taxi to the lift as it was just a bit too far to walk with ski's.(about a mile appox) though there are plenty of places closer. However, we paid £42 a night for a lovely 2 bedroom apartment, so were happy with that. The village was dead,we felt it was a lovely traditional alternative to the big resorts.Again the price made that not matter. I will never forget walking through the village at night, snow falling, looking at the stars over the mountains. Snow was lovely in Feb, and plenty of it. It snowed all the time we were there pretty much.
The ski train (brilliant) started up the day after we arrived so that was fine. Riding it around the village was awesome to see the view.
There was plenty of skiing for us (in our 50s, but we have skied most of Europe, so not the best judges), although my daughter didn't get the bug and was happy on the nursery slope. The runs were lovely, the lifts good and uncrowded. The ski garden at the top of the lift was lovely for gaining confidence.
Ski Instructors very good, we had a combination of private tuition and classes (Instructor had our 2 children happily ski-ing within an hour!) Son turned out to be a ski-head so had tuition/lessons and absolutely loved it, he was out all day and very happy. Our family trip here for a week cost just a few hundred (cheap flights from Luton). Transfer was costly, but we didn't want to drive.
Virtually no queues Feb half term. Absolutely loved the place. Would DEFINITELY go back if it wasn't for the chair lift (I can't ski anymore as i have a dodgy arm and can't work the chairlift). At the top of the chairlift, if you can't ski down to the ski school (small blue?) run, then you have to hike down a metal staircase, with your ski's,boots, sticks.. and up again at the end of the day - not nice.It is much better if you can ski the small slope down to the ski school, and the run back to the bottom, otherwise it's a bit difficult.
There is a chacuterie in the village that did a totally fab takeaway fondue (ha! make sure you buy matches, they don't supply them and everything was shut at night!).

Not sure why this place doesn't have better reviews. I've been here a few times and it has a surprising range of pistes with a great 1000m vertical which is skiable in one run from top to bottom. Stunning views from the tops, and few if any British. Great creperie at the base.
Off-piste options might be limited, though there may be some options over the back side. There's certainly a fantastic off-piste route connecting nearby Thollon down to Bernex.
