When thinking ski resorts near Geneva, Chamonix tops the list at just an hour’s drive away. Chamonix boasts challenging slopes and excellent off-piste skiing, not to mention to awesome views of Mont Blanc! Chamonix’s wide range of ski slopes are suitable for various skill levels, from beginners to expert skiers and snowboarders. Les Planards and Le Savoy are good places for newcomers to practice. Intermediates can stretch their legs on the blue and red runs of Brévent-Flégère and Les Houches. The ski area is interconnected with Avoriaz and Morzine, giving access to a vast network of slopes.

Morzine is a bustling town with a vibrant atmosphere. It’s not just a ski resort; it’s a proper mountain town with a range of restaurants, bars, shops, and entertainment options. The après-ski scene here is lively, offering plenty of options for socializing after a day on the slopes.

La Clusaz, France

Around a 90-minute drive from Geneva, La Clusaz is known for its beautiful scenery and family-friendly slopes. The resort offers a diverse range of ski slopes suitable for various skill levels. It’s known for its well-groomed pistes, tree-lined runs, and off-piste opportunities. The terrain is suitable for beginners, intermediates, and advanced skiers, with a good mix of blue, red, and black runs. Avoriaz, France

Avoriaz is about a 90-minute drive from Geneva. The highest resort in the Portes du Soleil, Avoriaz offers snow-sure skiing and a car-free centre. It is particularly popular among intermediates and advanced skiers due to its wide range of red and black runs, but also suitable for beginners.

One unique aspect of Avoriaz is that it’s a car-free resort. Instead, transportation is primarily by horse-drawn sleighs, horse-drawn carriages, or electric vehicles, making it a unique and environmentally friendly destination. Many accommodations in Avoriaz offer convenient ski-in/ski-out access, allowing you to hit the slopes directly from your accommodation.

Avoriaz  also offers snowshoeing, ice skating, sledding, and a water park called Aquariaz.
