My kids learned to ski here some 20 years ago, and this year we brought our grandkids to learn. This is a very family friendly and well run resort with both good slopes and good infrastructure around them - especially for beginners and newer intermediates. It won't challenge good skiers. Besse itself is a drive (car or bus) and probably offers more away from the slopes than Super Besse does - we stayed in Besse and it was, for us anyway, the right choice with things to do and restaurant choice being better. It does get VERY busy on weekends and in the school holidays and while parking was a case of get-there-early-and-park-for-the-day there is a bus shuttle and the queues for the lifts were never very bad. Restaurants on the slopes are limited - there is basically only one - La Bergerie - that is close to ski in/ ski out and since a change of ownership a while back they have become very clearly focussed on profit above service and quality - shame, it used to be a nice place! Plenty just a short walk though.
