Rickard

I recently visited Are, having been there once before. The first time I went I had a nice time however the higher region was only open for 2/6 days due to what they called high winds (12m/s), this skiing was good however the lifts at the top have been designed in such a way that if the wind exceeds 10m/s they remain shut. The best skiing is at the top which is very frustrating furthermore the website says 108/114 slopes open however only about these are accesible by lift!! Very misleading, I recently visited and the higher region was shut for 6/6 days! The wind was between 8-14m/s and on the last day it was calm enough for it to open however it was too icy for the lifts to function! The lifts kept shutting all week and it took the lift operators a long time to get them going again (probably due to their average age being about 17). Good skiing in Bjornen for families, great park for people into freestyle, potentially a great resort with a variety of activities besides skiing. Shame it is ran by incompetent staff and Skistar seem more concerned with making money than customer satisfaction. Wouldn't even say it can be compared to Alpine resort such as Wengen, Chamonix, Three Valleys, La Plagne ect.
