The Fichtelgebirge is located in the North East of Bavaria and the highest elevation is the Schneeberg with an altitude of 1053 m. The Schneeberg is not only named ‘Snow Mountain’ but the region is known to be very snow reliable.If you come to the Fichtelgebirge to go skiing, you can choose between several ski areas such as Bischofsgrün, the Bleaml Alm, Oberwarmensteinach, the Klausenlifte or the Ochsenkopf. Especially beginners and children will find many suitable offers here. And there are lots of good skiing schools available. Slopes for all levels of difficulty and modern lifts are characteristics of the region. Cross-country skiers will find many beautiful runs in the Fichtelgebirge. Most of the cross-country ski runs are situated around the Ochsenkopf. If you want to ski after nightfall, there are also lighted runs available.
