One of the country’s most northerly resorts, and close to the ferry port at Santander, Alto Campoo’s altitude and north facing slopes make it one of the most snowsure ski areas in Spain. It’s a medium-sized resort but with good uplift and pistes for all standards, including a couple of miles worth of steep blacks.
Descents of up to three miles long are possible by taking, for example, trail 12, Peña Labra, followed by trail 10, the mile and a half long Río Híjar I.
There are better than average facilities at the resort base including restaurants, ski rental, swimming pool, discothèque and 310 tourist beds, half in hotels, as the centre operates as a tourist destination year round. A short way downh the road the village of Branavieja offers more options.
