Sestriere
Driving time: 1hr23
High-altitude Sestriere (2,035m) is part of the extensive Via Lattea (Milky Way) ski, which is one of the largest ski areas in Europe (400km). Neighbouring resorts within the Via Lattea include Sauze d’Oulx, Claviere, Cesana, Sansicario, and Montgenèvre in France. The combined ski area offers cross-boarder skiing and a wide variety of slopes catering to different skill levels, from beginner to expert. You’ll find everything from open powder bowls to pretty, tree-lined slopes. Sestriere typically enjoys good snow conditions during the winter months and the ski season usually runs from December to April. Sestriere also offers a lively apres-ski scene, with numerous bars, restaurants, and shops.
Bardonecchia
Driving time: 1hr10
Bardonecchia has 100km of uncrowded pistes to explore. Its gentle terrain and tree-lined slopes are ideal for first-timers. Campo Smith at the base of the resort is specifically designed for beginners with its gentle terrain, magic carpet lifts and ski school meeting point. The resort has a good choice of blue and red runs for intermediates, particularly around Les Granges and Campo Smith. For those looking for more of a challenge, the Jafferau area has red and black runs known for being more challenging.
Sauze d’Oulx

Along with Sestriere, Sauze is part of the Via Lattea (Milky Way) ski area combining a vast 400km of slopes. The town has a charming, traditional alpine village old town with cobblestone streets and historic buildings. It has become a popular destination for skiers and snowboarders seeking a mix of challenging slopes and vibrant après-ski nightlife. In recent years, Sauze has also invested in a more family-friendly atmosphere with family-friendly accommodation and restaurants.
Claviere

Claviere is a small mountain village located in the Susa Valley near the French-Italian border and is part of the Via Lattea ski area. It offers a range of slopes and is well-connected to other resorts in the region in both Italy and France. The village has a traditional alpine charm, featuring wooden chalets and cobblestone streets. Mostly visited by Italian families, the resort is popular for its varied terrain and family-friendly vibe.
Courmayeur
Driving time: 1hr27
Situated in the Aosta Valley, Courmayeur is known for its charming alpine village atmosphere and views of Mont Blanc. It offers a range of slopes and is popular for both skiing and mountaineering. The ski resort in Courmayeur is part of the Mont Blanc massif and is linked with the French resort of Chamonix via the Mont Blanc Tunnel. Ski slopes cater to all levels, with a good mix of beginner, intermediate, and advanced runs. The resort is known for its scenic tree-lined slopes and stunning views of Mont Blanc. Courmayeur is one of the few places in Italy where heliskiing is permitted. This thrilling activity allows skiers and snowboarders to access remote and challenging terrain by helicopter.

Chamonix

Chamonix is easily accessible from Turin and is one of the most famous ski resorts in the world. It is famous for its extensive off-piste and backcountry skiing opportunities. Skiers and snowboarders flock to the challenging descents and the chance to explore the famous Vallée Blanche, a legendary off-piste route with stunning glacial scenery, but remember to hire a guide. The Chamonix Valley comprises several ski areas: Brevent-Flegere is suitable for intermediate and advanced skiers with its sunny slopes and breathtaking views; Grands Montets is known for its challenging terrain and high-altitude skiing; Le Tour is ideal for beginners and intermediates with its mix of gentle slopes and more challenging runs; and Les Houches is great for families and beginners, with tree-lined slopes and a picturesque setting. Chamonix itself is lively and offers a range of après-ski activities, including restaurants, bars, and shops.
