Newsroom Family skiing Best value ski resorts: Post Office Ski Report 2025

The 2025 Post Office Travel Money Ski Report reveals that Italy continues to offer the best value for both adult and family skiers, with Bardonecchia and Passo Tonale leading the rankings.

Best value ski resorts for 2025

Italy outperforms all other countries to offer the lowest prices for British skiers.

Bardonecchia retains its place as best value for adults, while cost-conscious families will get the lowest prices in Passo Tonale, where there are ‘kids go free’ ski kit deals

There are no French or Austrian ski resorts in the top tens for adults and families. Norway, Andorra and Spain offer lower prices than more established ski destinations

Best value ski resorts for adults

For the second consecutive year, Bardonecchia in Italy is the most cost-effective destination for adult skiers. A week-long ski trip—including lift pass, equipment hire, ski school, lunches, and drinks—costs approximately £544, marking a modest 1.5% increase from the previous year. Other Italian resorts in the top ten include:

Livigno (£637)

Sauze d’Oulx (£664)

Sestriere (£709)

La Thuile (£723)

Cervinia (£739)

In contrast, Swiss resorts are among the most expensive, with Zermatt topping the list at £1,346.

Best value ski resorts for families

Passo Tonale, also in Italy, offers the best value for families. A week-long trip for two adults and two children aged 6 and 8 costs approximately £1,571. This is due to the resort’s “kids go free” ski kit deal when purchased with adult equipment. Other Italian resorts in the top ten for families include:

Bardonecchia (£1,795)

La Thuile (£2,294)

Sestriere (£2,383)

Cervinia (£2,383)

New additions to the family rankings

Jahorina (Bosnia and Herzegovina)

Beitostølen and Geilo (Norway)

Kranjska Gora (Slovenia)

Ruka (Finland)

Rauris (Austria)

These resorts offer competitive pricing, with some experiencing price reductions compared to the previous year.

Currency Considerations

The strength of the British pound against the euro has helped mitigate price increases in many European ski resorts. Travelers are advised to purchase foreign currency in advance to secure the best rates.
